Natural Balance

Our goal has always been to live in balance with nature. From day one, we have paid the utmost respect to the land and practiced natural farming techniques and avoided any artificial or chemical treatment.

In early spring, we spread our homemade mulch along our footpaths and outbuildings. We also make frequent use of homemade cedar applications, in our opinion, one of the best tick deterrents around. Ticks have never been an issue here.

Several bat colonies reside in the woods just beyond the property line and our mosquitos have always been kept to a minimum.

Our dedication to a natural farming policy has allowed us to have frequent visits from Bald Eagles, Owls, and other animals who live in harmony with our agricultural footprint.

We have spent several years delicately caring for the meadow. The grassy pasture is a rich ecological area with lush grass and a colorful variety of wildflowers. Perfect for grazing animals and bees. Maintenance is simple consisting of routine perimeter cutting and a proper field mow twice per season. All without the need for heavy machinery.

In the warmer months, our two goats, Penelope and Ryan, do a wonderful job removing poison ivy, thorny bushes and any other undesirable plants.

Goats are a great way to ensure a beautiful, well-kept property free of weeds. There is plenty to eat, and they LOVE it!

We have several raised beds, all started with sun pasteurized manure from our horses, goats and chickens. Our animals are fed an organic diet. Our small organic vermicomposting operation supplements the planting soil with nutrients, ensuring that we have never need to bring-in commercial plant food or fertilizers to ensure a bountiful harvest.
